Who the concession is for

A little appreciation, expressed in a meaningful way.

Four groups, one consistent standard of care. Just tell us which concession applies when you enquire.

Blue-light & NHS

Police, ambulance, paramedics, firefighters, NHS staff and other emergency-service professionals. A reduced fee for those who are often there for everyone else.

Military & veterans

Serving armed forces personnel and veterans. Support can address life transitions, everyday stress, sleep, habits, anxiety or confidence, according to individual needs.

Teachers & school staff

Teachers, teaching assistants and education professionals. Take some space for your own wellbeing alongside the demands of supporting pupils and families.

Children under 16

Reduced-fee sessions for young people where the work is age-appropriate and suitable. Safeguarding, consent, confidentiality and involvement of parents or carers are discussed carefully before any session.

Students aged 16 or over and people facing financial hardship are welcome to enquire about other options, but these are not automatically included in the four published £65 concession categories.

Clear and simple pricing

The same care, at a more accessible fee.

There is no reduced standard of service for those receiving the concession.

Your sessions are individual and typically 50–55 minutes, up to a maximum of 60 minutes. We'll explain the proposed approach, agree goals and review progress without promising a fixed number of sessions or any particular outcome.

Online appointments are available throughout the UK where suitable. Reduced fees apply equally to eligible in-person and online appointments.

Your therapy, your goals

Support built around the person, not the profession.

The focus is on what you would like to be different in everyday life.

Gary Smith offers Solution Focused psychotherapy and clinical hypnotherapy, alongside appropriate Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques and CBT-informed tools. Your individual circumstances determine what is suitable and agreed.

People may come to explore stress, worry, confidence, habits, fears, workplace pressures or personal transitions. We discuss alternatives, referrals or specialist services where these would better meet your needs.

You will receive a clear explanation of the approach, an opportunity to ask questions and a collaborative review of progress.

A thoughtful approach to younger clients

When the enquiry is for someone under 16.

The right kind of support depends on the young person's age, needs and circumstances.

Before proceeding, we'll discuss whether the service is appropriate, the young person's wishes and understanding, parental responsibility where relevant, safeguarding and the limits of confidentiality.

Some concerns are better supported through a GP, school wellbeing team or specialist children and young people's mental health service. If so, we can discuss appropriate next steps rather than offering unsuitable therapy.

NHS: supporting a child or young person.

For parents and carers

The concession is available to eligible under-16s, but booking a conversation does not automatically confirm treatment. An initial suitability assessment comes first.

Consent and confidentiality are approached in accordance with the individual young person's capacity and applicable guidance; they should not be assumed to be identical in every case.

If you are concerned that a child needs urgent help, contact their GP, NHS 111 or emergency services as appropriate.

Gary Smith, psychotherapist and clinical hypnotherapist at Best Mind Therapy

Meet your therapist

Hello, I'm Gary.

Psychotherapist, clinical hypnotherapist, lecturer and clinical supervisor based in Swindon.

I believe people should feel listened to and fully involved in decisions about their support. I work in a practical, forward-looking and compassionate way, drawing on Solution Focused approaches, clinical hypnosis, NLP and CBT-informed strategies where appropriate.

The concession recognises the contribution made by people in public service and education, while helping families access suitable support for younger clients.

Where sessions are available

Swindon, the surrounding area and online throughout the UK.

The practice is based on Northbourne Road in North Swindon. We welcome in-person enquiries from approximately 50 miles around Swindon; clients travel to this single clinic, rather than to additional local branches.

Suitable online appointments are available across the United Kingdom, and the same concessionary rate applies to eligible clients.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions, answered.

Who qualifies for the £65 rate?

The advertised concession covers blue-light and NHS workers, serving military personnel and veterans, teachers and school staff, and children under 16, where therapy is suitable. Please mention the relevant group when enquiring.

Is a concessionary session different from a standard session?

No. Eligible clients receive the same individual appointment length, professional standards and appropriate care. The fee is lower, not the standard of service.

Do I need to provide proof of eligibility?

Please mention your eligibility when making an enquiry. Gary will explain any reasonable confirmation needed before booking; there is no medical or financial document upload form on this page.

Can children under 16 attend?

Potentially, subject to suitability, safeguarding, informed consent and the young person's circumstances. An initial conversation helps establish whether this service or a specialist children's service is appropriate.

Are online sessions available at the concessionary rate?

Yes. Eligible clients can enquire about suitable online appointments throughout the UK at the same concessionary session fee, as well as in-person sessions in Swindon.

How long is a session?

A standard session is normally 50–55 minutes, with a maximum of 60 minutes. The free initial consultation is a separate opportunity to discuss your needs and options.

Can students or people on a low income enquire?

Yes. Please contact the practice to discuss your circumstances. Student status or financial hardship alone does not automatically qualify someone for one of the four advertised £65 concession categories.

What are the payment and cancellation terms?

Session payment is due seven calendar days before the appointment, and 48 hours' cancellation notice is required. Full details are available in the client terms and fees information.

How do I get started?

Book a free initial consultation through the online booking link, or contact Best Mind Therapy by telephone or email. Mention the concessionary category and your preferred appointment format.

Your next step

Time for a little support of your own.

Whatever your role or responsibilities, you deserve a thoughtful conversation about what might help.

Arrange a free, no-obligation consultation to explore your needs and whether the concession applies. Appointments are subject to availability and suitability.
